The Excretory System by Dr. Alvin
Silverstein, Virginia Silverstein, and Robert Silverstein 1994 How it
Works: The
lungs get rid of carbon dioxide and water when you exhale. Skin also gets
rid of water, salt, and other wastes. These wastes leave the body as sweat.
Kidneys get rid of extra water, salt, and other wastes in the blood. They
put pressure on the waste to filter it. The waste leaves the body as urine. What Body
Parts are Included: The body parts that are included are: lungs, sweat
glands, liver, kidneys, skin, pores, and nerves. What System
Needs to Work Properly: The
“Excretory” System needs lots of rest, at least 1 working kidney, and a
proper diet. Interesting
Fact: Every day 440 gallons of blood flow through your
kidneys! Click here for
more information on the urinary system. Click here for
more information on the liver.
