| Track
1 |
- Track 1 consists of 7 - 8 meetings after school in the
Fall.

- The
technology club is open to 4th, 5th, and 6th graders.
|
- The
following is a tentative schedule. We reserve the
right to make changes as necessary.

- SCRATCH
PROGRAMMING (3 weeks)
- SCRATCH
teaches us to program using a fun, accessible environment
by dragging and dropping blocks of code to build an executable
script. Developed by the Lifelong Kindergarten group at
MIT, SCRATCH is a visual editor which enables creativity,
logic, problem-solving, mathematical and computational skills
in a dynamic, easy-to-use format. Beginners learn the basics
of programming languages, increasing computer skills and
knowledge.

- INTRODUCTION
TO COMPUTER COMPONENTS (1 week)
- What's
inside a computer tower? A keyboard?

- DIGITAL
PHOTOGRAPHY/PAINT & IMAGE EDITOR (3 Weeks)
- Learn
the secrets of good photography using angles, perspective,
color, patterns, and light. Then we will crop, resize, and
add borders and effects with a special paint & image
editor.

2 |
- Track 2 consists of 7 - 8 meetings after school in the
Winter.
|
- Students
who have taken Track 1 may apply for Track 2 sessions.

- SCRATCH Day is an annual event held each May where SCRATCH
programmers gather in their own communities for a fun day
of events. In 2012, 44 countries participated in SCRATCH
Day. Some of the activities held on SCRATCH Day includes
workshops, exhibitions, sharing sessions, and informal gatherings.
