INTRODUCTION:
Europe
is a continent with many different countries, cultures, and peoples. When selecting
a country to study, you have many choices; therefore, you will also be given an
additional choice of activities to complete.
TASK:
For this WebQuest, you will have the choice between two activities worth 30 points. Both may include a partner of your choice, or you may do the activity on your own and earn 5 points extra credit. (That’s right, extra-credit). Because you may choose your own partner freely, you will be responsible for each other. This means that you have to hold up “your end of the deal” with your partner, 50% of the work for each partner.
PROCESS:
You and your partner must select one of the following activities.
1. Poster Activity
You
will draw the name of a European country out of a hat and do a poster of that
country. You will give a short explanation of your poster to the class. Here is
what the poster needs to show:
- Name of Country
- Capital
- Outline of country
- Flag of country
- Official Language of country
- Any major physical features of the country (mountain
chains, rivers, etc.)
- Population
- Something Special about the culture
- 3 “Fun facts” about the country
- At
least 3 additional graphics, besides flag and map (May be computer
generated)
Your 2 minute presentation will
explain where you got the information and what the most interesting thing you
learned about the country. A rubric is on the back.

2. Tourism Video Commercial
You
will draw the name of a European country out of a hat and you will produce a
3-5 minute video commercial for that country. Because of the large number of
students, you must provide YOUR OWN video recorder and tape. Videos will be
shown in class. Here is what the video needs to have…
- Name of Country
- Capital
- Major attractions of the country, (either physical or
cultural)
- Major cities
- Picture of the flag
- Type of currency used
- What language a tourist should learn before going.
(The country’s official languages)
- How a tourist should dress…(because of the
climate…not necessarily fashion)
- Something Special about the culture
- 3 “Fun facts” about the country
- A motto to get tourists to come to your country…like
“Ireland…more than just shamrocks!”
