Introduction
What is an opposite? How do you find the absolute value of a number? Are there any shortcuts for adding, subtracting, multiplying, and dividing integers? What exactly is an integer, and what does it have to do with the REAL world anyway?
Over the next couple weeks, you will explore integers and investigate the questions above while completing various integer problems. By the end of these lessons, you will have recorded relevant rules and definitions of integers, practiced operating integers, and prepared to discuss integers with your classmates.

Task
* If your teacher hasn't given you the following pages, you will need to print them off to complete the web quest.
1. Individually, you will follow instructions to identify and define terms used with integers. Record valuable information and examples here.
2. Research adding, subtracting, multiplying, and dividing integers then complete practice problems. Keep track of it all here.
3. Demonstrate that you are an “expert” on integer operations by successfully completing a practice quiz and solving word problems. Record your answers and results here.

Process
1. Getting Started! Follow the five steps listed on this page to begin your exploration of integers.
2. Adding Integers Research and record the rules for integer addition.
3. Subtracting Integers Study the rules for integer subtraction.
4. Multiplying & Dividing Integers Learn the rules for integer multiplication & division.
5. Problem-Solving with Integers Test your new-found knowledge and put your mind to work.

Evaluation
When you have completed steps 1-5 of the process, review your notes
to make sure that you followed directions correctly and recorded the information
clearly. If you have any questions about integers, talk to your teacher! You
will be asked to present some of this information to your classmates aloud
before you use it to study for the unit test.
